Welcome To The Decatur County Arts Council

Our mission is to improve the quality of life in Decatur County,

by fostering the arts.

The Arts Council will benefits all of us by promoting and expanding the significant role of arts and culture in our lives. The Council advocate's for financial support for the arts from public and private funding sources. Our Council works to help stimulate the quality of life and improve education throughout the county in artistic and cultural activities, including but not limited to music, theater, dance, painting, sculpture, architecture, and allied arts and crafts. The Council works to also make recommendations concerning appropriate methods to encourage participation in and appreciation of the arts to meet the needs and aspirations of the citizens in our county.

To help fund our new Arts Council, plans are under way to present a monthly Dinner Theater to be located at the Decatur County Civic Center. The stage has been revitalized and is in great shape to be the host to theater, comedies, musicals and so much more.

Several fun and exciting opportunities exist. We are in need of actors, singers, choreographers, and directors. We need people to help with costumes, set design, lighting, cooks, waiters and waitresses and so much more. You’ll have a great time helping to create a new entertainment source for all of us to enjoy. The Dinner Theater will offer simple meals to be enjoyed while exciting drama and plays are set to life on the stage.

We are looking for volunteers and people willing to assist us in making the arts an integral part of everyday life in Decatur County. You will have the opportunity to meet with like-minded people to help improve the culture and fine arts offered to the community.
