Decatur County - Mayor Broadway says you can help!

Here is how: We are collecting and putting together what is known as a Comfort Kit.

Comfort Kit Program
Churches, Civic Organizations, Private Clubs and Other Caring Individuals can help us by donating hygiene and toiletry items for the Comfort Kit Program. We will be collecting these items in at the civic center and will need help putting the packages together. A Comfort Kit that contains basic toiletry items is used to help maintain personal hygiene.

If you or your group would like to put together Comfort Kits as a special project or would like to donate items that go into the Comfort Kits please use the list below:

Complete Comfort Kits or various quantities of the above listed items may be dropped off at the Decatur County Civic Center. Please contact the Parks Department at (731) 847-6225 if you need us to pick up kits or items in the local Decatur County area.

Volunteer Housing
Hurricane Katrina has left hundreds of thousands of people homeless. The greatest need for housing is within several hundred miles of the affected region. You can offer housing at
HurricaneHousing.org.

Volunteering to Help
TEMA needs volunteers to help storm victims, but you must get storm credentials before heading to the disaster area. To volunteer, contact TEMA at (615) 741-1496 or (615) 741-0343, or visit
www.tnema.org for more information.

Volunteering Medical Assistance or Supplies
If you a medical professional licensed in the State of Tennessee, please contact the Tennessee Department of Health at 1-800-778-4123 or (615) 532-3202.

If you are a medical professional licensed in Louisiana or Mississippi seeking temporary licensure here, complete the Application for Emergency Temporary License and fax it to (615) 253-1535. You can also contact the Tennessee Department of Health at 1-800-778-4123 or (615) 532-3202.

To donate medical supplies or equipment, please contact the Tennessee Department of Health, Emergency Medical Services at 1-800-778-4505 or (615) 741-6882.
